Green on The Screen 15 December 2015: Our Daily Bread

chicks on conveyor belt

Welcome to the world of industrial food production and high-tech farming.

To the rhythm of conveyor belts and immense machines, without voiceover, the film takes us into the places where food is produced in Europe: monumental spaces, surreal landscapes and bizarre sounds. This is a cool, industrial environment which leaves little space for humanity where people, animals, crops and machines play a supporting role in the logistics of the system which provides our daily food.

After the film, we’ll be having a discussion / presentation on local alternatives to the industrial food system, led by the policy director of Islington-based campaign group Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming. Join us from 6.30pm at Nanna’s Café & Pantry, 274b St Paul’s Road N1 2LJ. Entry by donation, film starts at 7pm.
